Episode 1: DC

Life After the Gunshot episode one sheds light on the harsh realities of living in Washington, D.C., through the lens of young Black male survivors of gun violence and the criminal justice system. With raw and deeply personal narratives, the documentary follows these young men as they navigate recovery from the physical and psychological trauma of their violent injuries as well as structural violence that preceded their injuries. Emphasizing the critical need for policies and programs addressing both gun violence and mass incarceration, this project amplifies the voices of those too often silenced, advocating for meaningful change through research, intervention, and storytelling.
